Happy Fall Diffusing

I use to love candles but since I started my oil journey, I’ve been diffusing more lately.  I love the fact that I can customize my scents at home by mixing different oils.  Most diffusers have a light (like a night light) and I’m planning to use a nice orange, warm glow for the Fall.

Diffusing can provide health benefits too! When diffusing, always use a cold-air diffusers since anything that requires heating the oils, can damage some of the beneficial properties.  It can be somewhat toxic to inhale burning oils (doesn’t sound pleasant at all).

Since October is here, I started researching what type of oils I can blend to welcome the Fall season.  I hope you enjoy these blends as much as I do and please do share your favorites with me 🙂

The Beard Oil Blend

BO

The Beard Oil – is my new recent oil blend.  I used my husband as a test subject and last week I made one for his co-worker. After doing some research on what essential oils I should use (and what they can do for the beard) – I used Jojoba carrier oil, Rosemary and Cederwood.  Keep in mind, that each oil has it’s own unique qualities and what might be great for someone, might not be for the next guy….. so please read on!

Carrier Oils for Beard Oil

Carrier oils are the most important part of any oil blend and it’s used to dilute since pure essential oils are potent and highly concentrated.  Fractionated coconut oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, Jojoba oil (and more) can be used as a carrier oil.  For this blend, I decided to use Jojoba oil since it’s widely known to strengthen your skin and hair.

Jojoba

Jojoba oil (pronounced ho-ho-ba) has vitamins A, D, and E and since it matches your own natural oils, it is absorbed by your face and beard. Jojoba oil is an emollient, which means it moisturizes your skin and prevents irritation, scaly or rough patches – great for any beard!

Rosemary

Rosemary essential oil is great to stimulate hair follicles making hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that Rosemary slows premature hair loss and gray hair.   It may also improve memory, mental fatigue and forgetfulness.

Cedarwood

Cedarwood essential oil can stimulate the hair follicles and increase circulation, it has the greatest concentration of Sesquiterpenes, which is a terpene that actually helps release toxins from the body. It can help reduce dry or flaky scalp. It’s been used as a mosquito and insect repellent. In aromatherapy, cedarwood is said to have a calming effect and a great woodsy smell!

Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil gives the beard a nice cooling sensation.  It has an antiseptic, regenerative, and stimulating effects which can relieve the skin from irritation and dry skin.  It can stimulate hair growth and give your hair a nice shine.
