Soothing my dog’s upset stomach with Essential Oil

We woke up today, to our dog (Zoey) having an upset stomach, she was eating grass and not eating her food.  We definitely know something is wrong when she doesn’t even her bacon treat!  She carried her treat outside and just sat next to it.  So for the first time, I decided to apply an essential oil called “digestzen” which soothes an upset stomach… and hours later, she started eating! I rubbed the oil on her stomach, her back paws and I let her smell it too.

The Water Sprinkler Mess that caused my Rash

Since my husband’s broken ankle, I’ve been doing more outdoor stuff and trying to maintain our lawn (I don’t have a green thumb whats-so-ever!). So, this morning I was outside fixing the water sprinklers and a couple of them busted out with water as I mistakenly screwed off the top.  The pressure of the water was strong and I got wet everywhere and for some reason the water that hit my skin caused a rash.  I know I’m allergic to environmental things like grass and I was in between the bushes inspecting all the sprinklers units.  I rushed inside and applied Lavender oil without diluting cause I wanted it to work fast and it did (within 25 minutes the bumps & the itchiness were disappearing)… I didn’t have to take Benadryl, Zyrtecs or any allergy medicine.  This stuff works!

Allergies

I’ve had allergies since about my mid-twenties and my allergies hit me hard during my pregnancy 9 years ago.  At the time, Zyrtec was prescribed to me (it wasn’t even available over the counter then).  Lately I’ve had a severe dry mouth and I’m not going to lie, I thought it was the oils I’ve been taking internally since the oils are new to me.  However I gave it a test and I didn’t take the oils internally for 2 weeks and the dry mouth would not go away.  I recently had a some blood work done due to my high cholesterol which runs in my family and I’m healthy.  I told my doctor about my dry mouth and he said it could be Zyrtec but “I’ve been taking Zyrtec for years” I said, that can’t be it.  I even mentioned it to my dentist and she said the same. I was told, even though I’ve been taking it for years, the side effects can hit me now. So I went home and googled it and ran into this site Consumer Affairs and to my surprise there are over 200 complaints about Zyrtec including the crazy itchiness I get.  It’s crazy!!! All this time, I thought the itchiness I felt in my hands and feet were due to allergies from environmental conditions (i.e. pollen, dust mites, etc.) but hundreds of people are saying it’s withdrawals from Zyrtec.  I couldn’t believe this but so many stories I read, were also my experience.  So I ran back to my oils (all natural products) and took Triease* and applied Lavender (along with my carrier lotion) to my itchy spots, mostly my hands & feet and it’s been working 🙂  I diffuse Lavender at night too, not only does it help with the itchiness but it helps me sleep. Only one time, so far in the past two months that in the middle of the night, I’ve been itching like crazy and I have taken half a pill of Zyrtec (which I received the advise from one of the post I read in Consumer Affairs) to slowly come off it… it’s been working!  On top of that, I haven’t had that dry mouth sensation which felt so uncomfortable through out my day (it’s gone). So… if you’re reading this and you’re experience the same thing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me for any questions about dōTERRA oils.  I know we all have different body chemistry and what worked for me might not work for you but it doesn’t hurt to try and bring natural products to your life style 🙂 20160412_154514_resized
